Harness Racing action tonight is in Hobart at Luxbet Park with nine races on the card.

The “Battle of Burnie” will open proceedings with the Craig Hayes-trained Jeanette Barry clashing with the Robert Gillies prepared Maybe Jack. Jeanette Barry, a Sportswriter- Gallavance two-year-old filly, has been placed at her last three outings after leading on each occasion. She was twice beaten by Ideal Bliss in Hobart and run down by Tisu Spirit in Launceston last week.

Craig will drive Jeanette Barry while Gareth Rattray will handle the ribbons of Maybe Jack (pictured) for the Gillies yard. The Live Or Die-Maybe Elle gelding broke through for its first victory, scoring by a head over War Dan Star in Launceston after leading throughout over 2200 metres, before a last-start third to War Dan Star at Devonport after being forced to park outside the leader.

Scooterwillrev will be sent out a short-priced favourite in race five over the 1609-metre Sprint journey despite drawing the second-line. The star of the Hayes stable has won 15  of 21 races, including six from eight this season. The Somebeachsomewhere-Karamea Toastime three-year-old gelding returned from a brief Victorian campaign to cruise to a 14.5-metre victory in Hobart in a heat of the Breeders Crown.

Im Barney Rubble looks set to continue Rohan Hillier’s sensational form from last week in the Claimer (race eight). The nine-year-old veteran, better suited to tonight’s mobile start, was poorly away from the stand and raced waywardly in the early stages, before rattling home along the pegs to gain the day, giving Rohan four winners for the night.

All the action from this evening’s meeting, commencing at 17.25, can be viewed via the live stream service at
