A bumper 11-race card awaits punters tonight at the Luxbet Racing Centre in Launceston. In pre-post markets, only the Wayne Campbell-trained Ken Two Stars is being served up as an odds-on favourite on what looks to be a meeting that will provide great value if you can find a winner.

The fifth race of the night, the Beena Busta Pace over 2200-metres, is a classic example with at least five winning chances. Wesley Vale trainer John Castles has two runners in the field of 11. Spot Eight, the winner of five races for the season, has drawn perfectly in two to assume its favourite role as leader. Stable-mate Chirac (pictured) will be out to make it five wins from its last eight starts, after storming down the outside of the track recording a 57.42-second last half, to gain victory the last time the pair met a fortnight ago.

Spitfire Rose, for trainer-driver Rohan Hadley, sat outside Spot Eight in their last encounter but showed all of her courage to be still there until the last stride before going down a head to Chirac. Leading trainer Ben Yole gains the services of Gareth Rattray for his consistent gelding Another Swinger. The seven year old recorded a win and five seconds at its last six Tasmanian runs, either side of a brief campaign in Victoria, however together with Spitfire Rose will need to overcome a wide draw to claim the major end of the spoils.

The joker in the pack may well be the Paul Ashwood-prepared Melolyn. The 2016 Easter Cup Heat winner has gone 24 starts without another victory but showed a glimpse of form at its last run bettering Chirac’s last half coming from the tail to run a close third.
