Two race meetings remain for the 2016/17 harness racing season.

Trainer Ben Yole is only one win away from rewriting the Tasmanian Harness Racing history books.

Todd Rattray had a good weekend in the sulky and is now two wins clear in the drivers premiership, while Shelley Barnes has a one-win lead over Deborah Williams in the female trainers premiership.

Rohan Hadley, Rohan Hillier and Todd Rattray were the only drivers to drive multiple winners on the Launceston program on Sunday.

The Stars

Ben Yole – Equalled Neville Webberley’s state record for the most number of wins in a 12-month season after his training treble in Launceston on Sunday evening.

Todd Rattray – Pinched a two-win lead in the states drivers title after a quartet of wins in the sulky on Sunday. He also prepared a training double.

Rohan Hadley – Drove a treble on Sunday including the Cliff Robins Memorial on the Sportswriter gelding Now Here This, who he also trains.

Ron Mansfield – Hobby trainer who prepared Guesstamate to her third win of the season.

Black Booker

Call Her Julie 

The Matthew Cooper-trained mare settled in second last position from barrier four over the 2200-metre journey. She continued to make ground out wide to only finish 10 metres behind some of the state’s best up and coming horses.

Week Ahead

Harness racing is back in Hobart on Sunday evening for a 10-event program.

Last week’s winner of the Discretionary Handicap, Jeans Mattjesty will have to come off a 20-metre handicap to win the seventh event on the program. He will face five other rivals in the 2090 metre event.

Another Swinger and Harshali are other pacers looking to make it back-to-back wins in a week when they line up on the program.

Tasmanian bred, owned and trained pacers will form a strong contingent in the semi finals of the Australasian Breeders Crown at Bendigo on Saturday night including;
