Meeting Dashboard – Devonport, Friday 14 July

The Devonport Harness Racing Club will stage their final meeting of the season on Friday evening. Nine races are scheduled with the first race set to commence at 5:02pm. New South Wales concession driver Conor Crook has moved to the state and has taken up a position with leading trainer Ben Yole. Crook is yet to break his maiden status in the sulky from only a small amount of drives, he currently has three drives on Friday’s program including Martys For Real in race one.

RACE 1: 17:03pm CUB MOBILE DIVISION ONE 2297M

This is for the C1-C2 performers to kick off the night’s card. There looks to be a bit of speed off the front line so will be crucial to who finds the early lead. THIRLSTANE KING (2) resumes from a freshen up and draws ideally as most of his wins are when he leads. He should be able to get across the pole marker early and if his at his top he will give a great sight. REGAL MAJOR (3) is another racing well and maps to get that right run just behind the speed so if gets a crack at them will hard to hold out. ULTIMATE COURAGE (5) is another that is racing well but draws a touch wide so will be hoping to slot into midfield as that looks his best chance of winning. SAYWHAT (7) was brave last time when being run down late. He draws inside the second row which is not ideal but if he can get a crack at them will be in the finish. Stablemates COMEON HOWZAT (4), MARTYS FOR REAL (8) and FUTURE PROMISES (10) are more than capable of figuring with the right trips in transit.

TOP PICK: REGAL MAJOR (3) should get the right run.

DANGERS: THIRLSTANE KING (2) draws to be a danger along with SAYWHAT (7).

ROUGHIE: MARTYS FOR REAL (8) will get a good trip into the race and can win at odds.

RATINGS: 3 – 2 5 7 – 1 4 6 8 9 10

SUGGESTED BET: REGAL MAJOR each way

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Trifecta 2 3 7 8 $24 flexi 100%

RACE 217:23pm ROBERTS MOBILE 1930M

This is a good race for the two year olds. MAYBE JACK (7) was a good winner last week when battled back strongly. He is a nice horse and if he can get a touch of luck early will take plenty of holding out. DUFRENSE (8) is another nice type who has raced at the top level all season. He draws two out on the second line which may give him an advantage over his main rival so is sure to be in the finish. WAR DAN STAR (4) was much better last time when just failing two run down MAYBE JACK (7). He has shown a bit of gate speed so if can settle up on the speed he has to be kept safe. BERTY MACK (6) won well last time in easier company. He draws outside the front line so will need plenty to fall into place to go back to back wins. LADY OLIVE OYLE (5) is a winner on the track but may find this a bit tough from the draw so place looks best as it does for her stable mate IDEAL KARALTA (1) who draws the pole. ALAPHILIPPE (3) is a first starter from the Christian Salter stable who is very well related so will pay to watch the market as a lead to his chances. FLASHY RULER (2) is another well related youngster on debut but will prefer to wait and see here.

TOP PICK: DUFRENSE (8) just leading his way.

DANGERS: MAYBE JACK (7) is the huge danger along with WAR DAN STAR (4).

ROUGHIE: ALAPHILIPPE (3) is a huge query so is a worth a gamble at odds.

RATINGS: 8 – 4 7 – 1 3 5 6 – 2 9

SUGGESTED BET: DUFRENSE win

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Trifecta 4 7 8 $12 Flexi 200%

RACE 317:48pm MITAVITE PACE 1930M

This is for the three year old and older non winners. JAMINAS JOY (7) was created a good impression at her two runs in the State to date. She draws inside the second row so as long as she gets a crack at them she is clearly the one to beat. FIRST ELVA (9) has had two starts for Marc Butler and been very good in both of them. She will be hoping to get a cart into the race and she is close enough she will take holding out.  HOLLY HALO (5) has been freshened up after running some very good races. She draw a touch wide so not sure where she ends up in the run but if she settles handy can win. NEW CAPER (10) and SOPHIAS ANGEL (11) were both well supported on debut with latter galloping out so where there is smoke there’s fire so will pay to keep safe again. RED SHED ROBBIE (6) is always thereabouts but draws wide tonight so will go back early and straight up along the pegs and that could get him a sneaking a minor first four spot. DEECEE GLENWOOD (4) is a well related first starter who has trialed ok but will pay to watch the market as a lead to his chances. SVENSSON (1) was ok on debut and forget her latest run where nothing went right. She draws the pole so if takes advantage will be thereabouts at odds.

TOP PICK: JAMINAS JOY (7) is the hardest to beat.

DANGERS: HOLLY HALO (5) is the danger along with FIRST ELVA (9).

ROUGHIE: SOPHIAS ANGEL (11) will run a race at odds.

RATINGS: 7 – 5 9 – 1 3 4 6 8 10 11

SUGGESTED BET: JAMINAS JOY win

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Quinella 5 7 9 $15 Flexi 500%

RACE 418:19pm NORTH WEST TASMANIA LIGHT HARNESS PACE 1930M

This looks a very tough race on paper. REGMONDO (9) showed a bit of promise in his first campaign to the races. He gets into a winnable position tonight and comes off a handy trial on Monday night so is sure to be in the finish. MAJOR JAMANE (8) was good at his first run for the new stable where he hit the line strongly. He will be better for that run and draws to get a good run through so is a must include. ANGELINA RAINBOW (1) resumed with a very lacklustre effort but she is still under the care of Marc so she must have shown something so will pay to keep safe from the pole. OUR MAXICAM (7) has been going ok and draws to get a good run on the pegs so if he gets the gaps when he needs them can run a race at odds. POP THE CORK (5) is an opportunist who needs the right run to be dangerous but he may get that here so keep safe. KARALTA BOOMER (6) races best when up near the speed and he won’t get that here so a place looks best. AS HIMSELF (2) and MULTIPLE CHOICE (3) are next best.

TOP PICK: REGMONDO (9) looks a good each way gamble.

DANGERS: MAJOR JAMANE (8) is a danger along with OUR MAXICAM (7).

ROUGHIE: AS HIMSELF (2) was better last week so can run a race at odds from good draw.

RATINGS: 9 – 1 5 6 7 8 – 2 3 4 10

SUGGESTED BET: OUR MAXICAM on a 1 by 2 basis

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Quinella  7 8 9 $15 flexi 500%

RACE 518:48pm SEA FM MOBILE 2297M

This is a C3-C5 in which we see numerous chances as the battle for the early lead will be crucial again. MAKING MY MARK (1) has been racing and draws the pole so if he can kick and keep his stablemate out early will take him a long way to winning. He has shown he has a bit of bottom about him so will be the hardest to beat. EBONYALLSTARZZZ (2) has good gate speed so will have a crack early to try and get across as that will be her best chance of winning so keep very safe. SIGNIFICANCE (7)  has done a super job last time in when only missed a place once out nine starts. He gets a good run behind the speed so if gets a crack at them can win. LAKE EYRE (4) is well up to winning this if produces his best form so is a must include. IM FULL TILT (6) has been racing well and been doing a bit of work in his races so if they run along up front look for him to be getting over the top of them. HOLME ON THE BAYOU (5) has had no luck at all in his past three starts so this is a race that may come his way so keep safe at odds.

TOP PICK: MAKING MY MARK (1) if holds the lead is the one to beat.

DANGERS: SIGNIFICANCE (7) is the danger along with EBONYALLSTARZZZ (2).

ROUGHIE: HOLME ON THE BAYOU (5) will run a race at odds.

RATINGS: 1 – 2 4 5 6 7 – 3

SUGGESTED BET: MAKING MY MARK win

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Trifecta 1 2 6 7 $24 Flexi 100%

RACE 619:17pm IMPRESS PRINT PACE 2286M

This is a C2 or better stand and as usual has plenty of chances. BE GOOD FRANKLIN (1) did win here two runs back from the same draw when kicked up to hold the lead and dictate the speed to win well and despite this is sure to be thereabouts. LORD JONES (3) was been ok without much luck so if he could ping away quickly and lob handy will be in the finish. LAST GUY STANDING (5) can ping the tapes so if this happens here and if was able to get across he will definitely give them something to chase. PUSHKIN (8) is going well and did win off 20m three runs back so if he can get a similar  run to that night he is sure to be finishing the race off strongly. RED SUN BLISS (4) is always thereabouts in a race of this nature so has to be included in the winning chances. ARTARAMA (6) and LAUGHYAHEADOFF (7) are another two that is capable of being in the finish with the right trips in transit.

TOP PICK: LORD JONES (3) looks a good gamble.

DANGERS: BE GOOD FRANKLIN (1) is a danger along with PUSHKIN (8).

ROUGHIE: LAST GUY STANDING (5) will run a race at odds.

RATINGS: 3 – 1 4 5 6 7 8 – 2

SUGGESTED BET: LAST GUY STANDING on a 1 by 2 basis

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Quinella 3 5 8 $15 Flexi 500%

RACE 719:46pm LUXBET PACE 1930M

This is a C1-C2 for the mares. JILLIBY GIGI (1) really put the writing on the wall at her past two with strong efforts. She did get crossed here last time when drawing the pole so the start will be crucial to her chances and if she holds up she looks nearly a good thing and if she gets crossed the race opens up. SPARKLING (2) is racing well and draws to get a good run on the speed so has to be included in the chances. RECKLESS ABANDON (9) was in career best form before going for a break. She resumes from outside the back row so will need plenty of brakes to come her way but can win if they do. WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (3) is the one that will have a real crack early to try and get across as if she did she will give a huge sight. WHATELSUGOT (7) was well supported when resuming for his new stable when nothing went right. She gets a good draw tonight so if the pole marker can hold up she can surprise at odds. BERTILS DELIGHT (5) is an opportunist who is up to winning if they run along up front so keep safe at odds.

TOP PICK: JILLIBY GIGI (1) just banking on Gareth getting her to hold up.

DANGERS: SPARKLING (2) is a danger along with WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (3).

ROUGHIE: WHATELSUGOT (7) can run a race at odds.

RATINGS: 1 – 2 3 9 – 4 5 6 7 8

SUGGESTED BET: JILLIBY GIGI win

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: 1 – 2 3 5 7 9 – 2 3 5 7 9 $20 Flexi 100%

RACE 8: 20:17pm JOHN KENNA RACE NIGHT VET MOBILE 2297M

This is for the three-year-old and CO performers. CALL ME BLONDIE (9) was good when resuming and will strip much fitter for this assignment. She draws the second line so will have to put into the race at some stage as that will take her a long way to winning. FREDS UNDER FIRE (7) looked in need of the run when resuming. He draws inside the second line which is not too bad as he likes to be driven cold and be saved for one run at them so if he gets a crack at them will take holding out. SEA SKY (6) was disappointing when resuming. She draws outside the front line so should push to keep that advantage over her main rivals so if she’s right she will take plenty of beating. JOHNS LEGACY (10) will look to follow one of his main rivals everywhere he goes and his close enough can get over the top of them. SIGN OF A TYNE (5) has always shown ability and resumes for new trainer Kate MacLeod who has her stable going very well at present so will pay to keep very safe. FIERY TURBULENCE (1) can sneak a place at odds from the pole. ITSNOTALWAYSBOUTU (11) is another going well but draws poorly so will need plenty of luck in the run but can win if gets it. SHADOW CONTROL (4) can improve form his first-up run in the State.

TOP PICK: CALL ME BLONDIE (9) will be very hard to beat.

DANGERS: FREDS UNDER FIRE (7) is one of many dangers along with JOHNS LEGACY (10).

ROUGHIE: SIGN OF A TYNE (5) will run a race at odds.

RATINGS: 9 – 4 5 6 7 10 11 – 1 3 8

SUGGESTED BET: CALL ME BLONDIE win

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Boxed Trifecta 5 6 7 8 10 $30 Flexi 50%

RACE 920:48pm HARDINGS HOTMIX PACE DIVISION TWO 2297M

This is the lowest points division of the C1-C2. CRAFTY OLD FOX (3) looks well-placed and in a race of this nature from his handy draw. He will push forward and more than likely have to sit parked but can still win from the chair. LORD STARK (1) will run a much-improved race as he will get an easy lead so can give some cheek at odds. EKTORAS (7) is another that can improve at odds as will get a very cheap run on the back of the leader so keep safe. FOUR SMART ACES (8) will find this much easier than recent runs. He will get a good run through early and will then look to come three wide at the bell so can win. JODIS CHOICE (5) was heavily supported at first run in the state but failed dismally. He will need to improve sharply but where there’s smoke there’s fire so consider if money comes for him again. AITUTAKI (2), MOBI DOC (4) and STRANGE CONDUCT (6) are more than capable of figuring with the right runs in transit at odds.

TOP PICK: CRAFTY OLD FOX (3) is the hardest to beat.

DANGERS: LORD STARK (1) is the leader so has to be a danger along with FOUR SMART ACES (8).

ROUGHIE: STRANGE CONDUCT (6) can run a race at odds with the right trips.

RATINGS: 3 – 1 7 8 – 2 4 5 6 – 9

SUGGESTED BET: CRAFTY OLD FOX win

SUGGESTED EXOTIC BET: Quinella 3 as the banker with 1 7 8 $15 Flexi 500%
