Field announced for inaugural Launceston Beautide

The field has been selected for the fourth running of The Beautide (2200m), which will be held in Launceston for the first time on Saturday night, 1 August.

Following a $20,000 contribution from the Launceston Pacing Club (LPC), The Beautide will be worth a total prize money of $100,000 in 2026.

15 nominations were received for the race, with the final field listed below in alphabetical order.

  • Preparation
  • Smooth Reason
  • The Bride
  • Unmatched
  • Barber Shop – first emergency

The Beautide will be part of a feature program at the Ladbrokes Racing Centre, Mowbray, that also includes the $20,000 Darrel Rockliff Graduate and $14,000 King Fillies & Mares Series. Duncan Dornauf will provide hosted coverage of the meeting for Tasracing Live and Sky Channel.

The barrier draw for The Beautide will be in conjunction with the remaining nine races for the Launceston program and released on Tuesday afternoon.

Race conditions for The Beautide are below:

A race restricted to horses aged 3YO & 4YO that fall under either of the following conditions:

    • Tasbred
    • 100% owned by a Tasmanian resident/s since 1 September 2025 and 100% trained by a licensed Tasmanian trainer since 1 February 2026.

The race will be conducted at Launceston over 2200m with a maximum field size of 10 plus 2 emergencies. Order of selection will be by Manual Field Selection (MFS), with the race to be drawn by a Preferential Barrier Draw on Age and then Sex (PBD/AGE/SEX).
