Tasracing, in conjunction with the Harness Industry Forum (HIF), is pleased to confirm the implementation of the 2025/26 Code Funding Allocation, effective from 1 October 2025. The following initiatives form part of this year’s allocation:
• Sires Stakes Finals for Tasbred Horses
The Finals for the 2YO (Dandy Patch & Evicus), 3YO (Globe Derby & Bandbox) and 4YO (Raider Stakes & Granny Smith) Sires Stakes will each increase from $60,000 to $75,000, highlighting continued support for the Tasbred scheme.
• Drivers Fee Increase
The standard Drivers Fee will increase from $70 per drive to $80 per drive, following consultation with industry representatives. This adjustment recognises increased costs faced by drivers and is aimed at assisting with ongoing expenses, including private health and personal accident insurance. Tasracing strongly encourages all drivers to maintain appropriate personal coverage.
• Minimum Prizemoney
Minimum prizemoney for Saturday Sky 1 meetings will be set at $12,000.
• Veterinary Attendance at Trials
A veterinarian will now be present at all trial sessions. This enhancement comes with no change to the current trial fee.
• Tasmania Cup Heats
Heats for Tasmania’s only Group 1 equine event, the Tasmania Cup, will now carry prizemoney of $20,000.
• Slot in The Eureka
Tasracings position in the $2.1 million Eureka remains under review. A formal decision is yet to be made, with Tasracing currently awaiting further information and an official announcement from Harness Racing Australia (HRA). Once received, Tasracing will consult further with HIF members before forming a final position.
• New Feature Race: Circular Head Cup
A new $14,000 race, the Circular Head Cup, will be introduced at Burnie, with strong support expected from the local community.
