The Subsidised Initial Assessments are an initiative to support retired racehorses as they transition from the racing industry into the community.
Approved applicants are eligible for a one-off assessment of up to 60 minutes in duration with a Tasracing Approved Coach.
The Program will enable new or potential owners of retired racehorses to receive general advice across a range of areas from horse identification, racing history and retirement status, equine care advice and advice regarding horses transitioning out of the racing industry, horse inspections and vet recommendations. It may also include advice around the suitability of the horse and rider match.
The program operates through a voucher system, with approved applicants issued a one-off voucher to cover the cost of the assessment. The assessment is of general nature and intended as a guide only.
