PROMISING pup Offen Charles will be hoping to continue its recent improved form, stepping out with a winning chance today at the Devonport Showgrounds over 452 metres.

The son of Don’t Knocka Him and Patsy Anne has box five in the Great Northern Super Crisp Grade 5 and only needs to begin cleanly to clinch a breakthrough win on the U-turn track and notch up the third win of his career.

The Eileen Thomas trained Offen Charles showed a glimpse of his ability finishing third to Droopy’s Ella a fortnight ago and then franked the form with victory over Beau Wonder in Hobart last week.

Prodigal Son (box four) for trainer Susan Gittus looks the main danger in today’s ninth race, coming off a last start third placing behind Harry Steiger over 461 metres last Thursday night in Hobart.

The Ted Medhurst trained Retail Chart is another prospect to add to your first four and trifecta investments.

Kennel-mate Swift Zorro will look to bounce back from his unplaced effort in last week’s Country Derby final when he contests the Dowling McCarthy Tyres Grade 4 (race six) over 452 metres.

The son of Barcia Bale is a noted hit or miss beginner but possesses good early speed and is likely to run favourite with the Gary Johnson prepared Deni’s Denial, unbeaten in two starts on the track.

Tuesday’s meeting at Devonport gets underway with the first race set to jump at 12.14pm.
