The final two heats of the BOTRA Claiming Novice Drivers series headline tonight’s 11-event program at the Luxbet Racing Centre in Launceston.

Brady Woods holds a one point lead over Taylor Ford in the series.

Ford does appear to have the best book of drives out of the winning chances from the points table. In Heat Five which is race two on the program, Ford will drive Jaminas Joy for Ulverstone trainer Rod Burgess. A winner at her first start in the state, Jaminas Joy death seated throughout easily by 11 metres to bring up her first career win at start 13. Woods will partner Striker Jim in the race who has drawn the pole position and could fill a place from the draw.

In the final heat of the series, race three, Ford will partner Diddley Bow who she drove to victory in a heat of this race at Devonport last Friday week. Coming from back along the fence Ford only had to go around one horse in the home straight to win by one metre. Tonight Diddley Bow should sit up on the speed and be very hard to beat. Woods will partner Last Guy Standing in the event who finished sixth in Hobart last week.

Points after four heats of the series are; Brady Woods 45, Taylor Ford 44, Alister Woods and Wade Rattray 32, Matthew Cooper 28, Samantha Gangell 25, Justin Howlett and Hannah Van dongen 24, Jack Laugher 20 and Samantha Freeman 17.

Leading trainer Ben Yole is currently sitting on 99 wins for the season and a win tonight will see him train a century of winners in consecutive seasons.

There will also be eyes on the leading female trainer’s premiership with Shelley Barnes and Deborah Williams locked in battle with 20 wins each. While brothers Gareth and Todd Rattray will continue their battle in the state drivers premiership where Gareth holds a 3-win lead.

The first race will commence at 5.13pm and will be telecast on Sky Racing 2 with the remaining races on Sky Racing 1, all races will be lived streamed at tasracing.com.au.
