Our immersive 5-day Internship Program offers a unique, behind-the-scenes introduction to the racing industry. Across the week, participants will explore a variety of roles, develop hands-on skills, and gain valuable insights to help shape their future career pathways. Running during both the northern and southern school holiday periods.

Spreyton (Devonport Racecourse) 12^th – 16^th Jan 2026

Brighton (Brighton Training Centre) 19^th – 23^rd Jan 2026

Start: Approx. 7:30 AM | Finish: Approx. 3:30 PM daily (TBC)
Cost: This program is provided free of charge to successful applicants.

 WHAT’S INCLUDED:

• Exclusive Access
  Visit jockey rooms, racetracks, and gain career insights, including information on traineeships and courses available.
• Explore Careers in Racing
  Learn about job opportunities, career paths, and study pathways in the racing industry.
• Meet Industry Experts
  Hear real stories from professionals about their careers in racing.
• Behind-the-Scenes Tours
  Access Tasracing's northern racing and training venues. Experience barrier trials, morning training sessions, and more.
• Horse Handling Skills
  Learn basic safety and handling techniques when working with horses.
• Stud Visit
  Visit one of Tasmania’s leading breeding studs and learn about the careers in breeding.

 REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 15 years or older
• Wear fully enclosed shoes (boots preferred)
• Wear appropriate protective clothing (e.g., no singlets)
• No mobile phones during site visits unless approved by facilitator
• No dangling jewellery: hair must be tied back for safety
