TASBRED Incentive Scheme

More than $1.5 million in prize money and bonuses on offers across Tasmanian's TASBRED Incentive Scheme!

The TASBRED Incentive Scheme is an exciting new initiative for breeders and owners in Tasmanian, offering more than $1.5 million in prize money and bonuses during the 2018/19 racing season. This scheme will provide 1.54 million in bonuses specifically for eligible 2YO,3YO and 4YO horses, distributed across 72 races.

Eligiblity Criteria for TASBRED Scheme 

1. Tasmanian Sired: Sired by Tasmanian stallions.

2. Interstate Sired: The dam must be Tasmanian-owned and served by a stallion that stood in Tasmanian during the relevant breeding season, as per the Australian Stud Book.  

3.Tasmanian Reared: Both the foal and dam must have lied lived in Tasmanian for at least six continuous months between the foal's birth and it's first birthday, as listed by the Australian Stud Book. 

Note: Nominators must provide documentation to verify eligibility under Category C at the time of nomination.

 

Bonuses Offered on Selected Races

  • All 2YO and 3YO Maiden Races
  • Selected Handicaps for 2YO, 3YO, and 4YO horses with a prize pool of under $50,000
  • Selected Maiden and Class 1 Races
  • Selected 2YO/3YO/4YO & Up Maiden Races

Bonuses Races
 2 x TASBRED only races will be scheduled each Racing season

  • 2YO 1200m – $50,000
  • 3YO 1200m – $50,000

Costs (Effective November 1, 2021)  (media release)

To participate in the TASBRED program, there are specific nomination fees:

  • Tasmanian Sired: $550 (GST inc)
  • Interstate Sired: $1,100 (GST inc)
  • Tasmanian Reared: $1,650 (GST inc)

A one-off nomination fee is required when the horse is a yearling. Once this fee is paid, the horse becomes eligible for bonuses during its 2, 3, and 4-year-old seasons for wins in any designated TASBRED races. 

Bonuses – $21,800 (GST ex)

  • Owner – $16,000
  • Breeder – $4,000
  • Trainer – $1,000
  • Jockey – $800 ($300 Jockey/$500 Jockey Welfare Account)

TASBRED will match the advertised *SuperVOBIS payment on a Victorian race win for Tasmanian sired horses ONLY.

*Payment reflects 70% of advertised bonus (1st place only)
