Building a safer, healthier and more respectful racing industry

The racing industry is built on people who are passionate about racing, committed to their animals and proud of the role they play in our sport.
RaceSAFE is a comprehensive industry training program designed to support the safety, wellbeing, respect and welfare of everyone involved in racing.
Mandatory training for licensed participants
All licensed participants are required to complete the RaceSAFE training program prior to the end of the current licensing season. 
The program brings together five important areas of awareness and education that are essential to creating a safe, healthy and sustainable racing industry:
The RaceSAFE Program Covers
Alcohol & Drug Awareness
Understanding the risks associated with alcohol and other drugs, making safer choices and recognising how impairment can affect individuals, colleagues, safety and animal welfare.
Mental Health Awareness
Building awareness of mental health, recognising when someone may need support, reducing stigma and understanding how we can look after ourselves and each other.
Work Health & Safety (WHS)
Understanding workplace safety responsibilities, identifying hazards and supporting safer practices across racing environments.
Respect at Work
Promoting a positive, inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone is treated fairly and with dignity.
Animal Welfare
Understanding our responsibilities for the welfare of racing animals, including the relevant Codes of Practice for racehorses and greyhounds.
Approximately 5 Hours to Complete
The RaceSAFE program takes approximately five hours to complete.
A range of training options will be available throughout the next 10 months, making it easier for participants to select a session that works for them.
Training will be delivered through a combination of:
Face-to-face, in-person sessions
Classroom-style training
Live Zoom sessions
Online training, when this option becomes available

Participants will be able to choose from a number of available training dates and book into the session that best suits their circumstances.

Don't leave it until the last minute. With sessions being offered throughout the coming months, participants are encouraged to select a date early and make sure their mandatory training is completed.
