Following the incredible success of 2025, Tasracing's Win A Share in a Tasmanian Racehorse competition returns for 2026, and entries are now open.
Last year's competition attracted strong interest from Tasmanians eager to experience racehorse ownership for the first time. We're now following four of last year's winners - Shelley, Dale, Peter and Luke & Shay - with a video crew on the Tasracing Ownership hub, capturing their journey as they watch their horses develop and prepare for the track.
This year, five new winners will each receive an unforgettable prize package worth $5,000, including:
- $4,000 in vouchers ($2,000 towards purchasing a share in a yearling at the Magic Millions Sale, plus $2,000 for training fees)
- VIP Magic Millions experience including cocktail party tickets, sales day hospitality, and accommodation at Country Club Tasmania
- Full transfers and premium experiences throughout the weekend
The competition offers Tasmanians who've never owned a racehorse the chance to step into the winner's circle and become part of Tasmania's thriving racing community.
"The response to last year's competition was phenomenal. We've already seen three horses from the 2025 competition reach the trials, with one making its race debut," said Tasracing's Manager of Digital & Ownership, Tristan Heffernan.
"The feedback from last year's winners has been outstanding and they're only just getting started in their ownership journey. We're following their stories so Tasmanians can see firsthand what racehorse ownership entails, from the sales ring through to race day."
Entries close 2pm Tuesday, 4 February 2026. The competition is free to enter and open exclusively to Tasmanian residents aged 18+ who have never owned a racehorse in Australia.
