Kennel Upgrade Subsidy Scheme June 2025

Tasracing has resolved to implement the Kennel Upgrade Subsidy Scheme to provide financial assistance to licenced racing participants in the greyhound code who wish to upgrade the existing kennel facilities used in their racing operations on properties approved by Tasracing to enhance welfare standards for greyhounds.

Examples of potential eligible projects:

    • Water-proofing
    • Provide a run for each kennel
    • Upgrade yard/fencing to provide safe containment of the greyhounds
    • Upgrade greyhound watering system
    • Upgrade drainage to ensure a dry kennel floor

Examples of ineligible projects:

  • Increasing the number of kennels

Applicant process:

Fill out the Application Form. Applications close 25 June 2025.

Email the supporting documents to Welfare@tasracing.com.au. You must supply a plan of the works, and quotes for all items from an external contractor who has requisite licences and insurances. You cannot do the work yourself.

Expect the site to be inspected by a Tasracing Integrity Unit Steward to discuss the Scope of Works.

You will be advised whether you are successful or unsuccessful in writing by 4 July 2025.

Once approved, expect to sign a written agreement (Grant Funding Deed) with Tasracing that you will do the works as per the Scope of Works. The works need to be completed within 6 months from date of Tasracing subsidy payment.

Once works are completed, expect the site to be re-inspected by a Tasracing Integrity Unit Steward. If the works have not been completed to a standard, or in line with the Scope of Works, you may be required to repay the Subsidy.
