Wednesday's Devonport Cup meeting (7 January) will be broadcast live on Racing.com, which is available on Free To Air (FTA), Foxtel, Kayo and streaming platforms.
It is the first time that Tasmanian racing will be broadcast live on FTA since 2012.
Tasracing CEO Andrew Jenkins said he appreciated the flexibility demonstrated by long-term, principal broadcast partner, Sky Channel, to enable Tasmanian racing to be broadcast on FTA.
“Our new media rights deal with Sky, which started on 1 January 2026, has an FTA allowance for 10 Tasmanian thoroughbred meetings each year to be broadcast live,” he said.
“The Devonport Cup meeting will also benefit from full coverage of every race as the South Australian and Victorian race meetings have been moved due to forecast hot temperatures.”
Mr Jenkins said it was likely that two other feature race days that formed part of the current Ladbrokes Tasmanian Summer Racing Festival would be broadcast on Racing.com.
Racing Victoria EGM Andy Hoad said the expanded coverage reflects a shared commitment to showcasing the best of Australian racing.
“This partnership represents an important step in expanding Racing.com’s national footprint. Tasmanian racing has a proud history and a passionate following, and we’re delighted to bring these feature races to a broader audience. Our focus is always on strengthening access to great racing, and Tasmania’s marquee events are a natural fit for our lineup.”
Wednesday's broadcast will be headed up by Matt Reid and Colin McNiff, including pre and post-race coverage.
Devonport Cup day has 10 races, the first scheduled for 12:30 and the last at 17:42.
The Ladbrokes Devonport Cup is race nine at 17:07.
Tasmanian multiple Group 1-winning jockey Craig Newitt will be aiming to win his 10th Devonport Cup riding the Barry Campbell-trained Earendel.
