What is an Approved Promoter?

Approved Promoters are registered syndicators and trainers who have met Tasracing's eligibility requirements to publicly offer shares in racehorses. Each has been assessed by Tasracing and holds the appropriate licences under national regulations governing horse racing schemes.
Buying through an Approved Promoter means you're dealing with someone who has been vetted, is accountable to Tasracing, and is operating within the rules. If a promoter doesn't appear on this list, they are not authorised to sell shares in Tasmania.
New to racehorse ownership? Visit our [Getting Started in Tasmanian Racehorse Ownership] guide for everything you need to know about getting involved. Once you own a share, you can also join the [Racing Owners Club Tasmania], a free hosted program for owners across all codes on Tasmanian race days.

Regulatory information

Horse racing schemes are classified as managed investment schemes under the Corporations Act 2001, regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). Any person offering ownership shares to the public must hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or operate as an Authorised Representative of an AFSL holder, and must also be approved by Tasracing.
