Building a Skilled, Safer Future for Tasmanian Racing
At Tasracing, we are committed to building a stronger, more professional racing industry through high-quality training and continuous upskilling. Our focus is clear: to support our participants to succeed, to uphold the highest standards of integrity and safety, and to safeguard the welfare of our animals at every level of the industry.
In 2022, Tasracing was awarded a significant industry training grant to elevate skills and standards across the state. Since then, we have delivered a range of targeted programs designed to support both individual development of our industry participants and whole-of-industry improvement.
These initiatives include:
Farrier Training (Tafe NSW) – establishing Tasmania as the first Principal Racing Authority (PRA) in Australia to introduce mandatory training requirements for raceday farriers, ensuring best practice hoof care and supporting optimal equine welfare and performance. Read More
Contextualised Certificate III in Business (TasTAFE) – available to all licensed industry participants, providing practical skills to establish, manage and grow successful racing-related businesses. Read More
Statewide First Aid Training (TasTAFE & ProMED) – equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations, protecting both people and animals. Read More
RaceSAFE - In April 2026, Tasracing will launch the RaceSAFE Program, a comprehensive five-module training framework that will be mandatory for all licensed industry participants. Read More
