Our immersive 5-day Internship Program offers a unique, behind-the-scenes introduction to Tasmania’s dynamic racing industry.
Tasmania is a tri-code racing state, hosting thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing.
Across five engaging days, participants explore diverse roles, develop practical skills, and gain real-world insights to help shape future career pathways. This program is more than just work experience; it is a genuine stepping stone into the racing industry, providing direct access to industry participants and potential employers.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Program activities may vary depending on location, racing schedules, and operational requirements.
Participants may have the opportunity to:
Explore career pathways across thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing
Visit racetracks, training facilities, and operational areas not typically accessible to the public
Meet trainers, racing officials, breeders, welfare officers, and other industry professionals
Observe barrier trials, morning trackwork, kennel operations, and race-day preparation
Develop foundational horse handling skills under supervision, with a strong focus on safety and responsible animal management
Visit a leading breeding operation to learn about bloodstock and breeding careers
Tour our greyhound rehoming program, Greyhounds As Pets, to understand post-racing transition, adoption pathways, and the industry’s commitment to animal welfare
The program highlights the full lifecycle of racing animals and introduces career opportunities spanning racing operations, breeding, welfare, compliance, administration, media, and community engagement.
