Owner and non-licensed persons access to race-day stables

Tasracing is continuing its consideration in relation to owner and non-licensed persons accessing race-day stables and will announce an ongoing position by 31 March

In the meantime, the interim restriction on access to race-day stables will stand, i.e. only licensed persons, authorised Tasracing staff and Club Officials may access race-day stables

I understand the strong views of many owners who would, reasonably, wish to see their horse(s) on race day. Having commenced as Tasracing Chief Racing Integrity Officer earlier this week, it’s important proper consideration is given to this matter by myself and the newly-established Racing Integrity Committee

The importance of owners is not under-estimated – they are critical to our industry. Similarly, safety and integrity are also of critical importance – and I have commenced assessment of both as regards access to race-day stables. Prior to making a final decision I will consult with relevant industry stakeholders over the coming weeks
