GREYHOUND INDUSTRY NOTICE:
PRESENTATION OF GREYHOUNDS AT RACE MEETINGS

1. PURPOSE

The Tasracing Integrity Unit (TIU) wishes to remind participants of the importance of
presenting greyhounds at race meetings in a clean and hygienic condition.
The standard of presentation of our greyhounds reflects not only the care provided by  participants, but also the professionalism and reputation of the Tasmanian greyhound racing industry.

2. PRESENTATION STANDARDS

While the vast majority of greyhounds are presented to a high standard, race day officials have occasionally observed greyhounds arriving with noticeable urine odour, urine staining, or excessive dirt on their coats.
A race meeting environment requires greyhounds to be handled by a range of people,
including kennel attendants, veterinarians, starters and Stewards. Presenting greyhounds in a clean condition helps ensure a positive and professional environment for everyone involved.
Participants are encouraged to take a moment prior to travelling to ensure their
greyhound, transport crate and associated equipment are clean and suitable for race day presentation.

3. EXPECTATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS

Participants should ensure that greyhounds presented at race meetings are clean,
appropriately groomed and free from significant dirt, urine staining or offensive odours.
This is not intended to impose an unreasonable burden on participants, but rather to
reinforce the standards of care and presentation that are already demonstrated by the majority of the industry.

4. STEWARDING APPROACH

Where a greyhound is presented in a condition that falls below expected standards,
Stewards may discuss the matter with the responsible participant and provide guidance where necessary.
The focus of this approach is education and maintaining consistent presentation standards across the industry.

5. REQUIRED ACTION

The TIU asks all participants to review their race day preparation routines and ensure
greyhounds are presented in a clean and hygienic condition.
By maintaining these standards, participants contribute positively to greyhound welfare, the race day environment and the image of the sport.
