Agfest 2026 | Showcasing Racing Beyond the Track

Each year in May, Tasracing swapped screens and spreadsheets for fresh air and country energy, heading out of the office and into the buzz of Agfest 2026.

This year, the Greyhounds as Pets (GAP) and Off The Track (OTT) teams showcased Tasracing’s strong commitment to animal welfare, while highlighting the diverse career and training opportunities available across the racing industry.

Across three action-packed days — Thursday 7 May to Saturday 9 May — visitors had the chance to meet some of the state’s top young jockeys and drivers and discover what it takes to skilfully handle a 600-kilogram racehorse. Of course, the greyhounds were once again a crowd favourite. Spending a moment with one of these gentle, affectionate animals made it easy to see why they capture so many hearts — and some visitors may even have met their new best mate.

OTT also brought plenty of excitement to this year’s program. Newly appointed coach Lee Davis delivered daily horsemanship demonstrations with his OTT horses before heading to the Tasracing marquee to chat all things horse training and answer questions. On Friday morning, OTT coach Amanda Cameron took centre stage with an engaging showjumping demonstration.

With more than 6,400 people involved in the Tasmanian racing industry as employees, participants and volunteers, the sector continues to play a significant role in the state’s economy, generating more than $200 million in value-added contribution each year.

Agfest provided the perfect platform to showcase this vibrant industry, and Tasracing was proud to welcome visitors to Quercus Park to experience it firsthand.
