Industry Update | Kennel Cough | Return to Greyhound Racing

Tasracing has endorsed a return to greyhound racing and related activities over the coming weeks.

A return to greyhound racing and related activities will require affected trainers to declare via email to the TIU operations@tasracingintegrity.com.au an absence of Kennel Cough for a minimum 7 days from their kennels. Tasracing also strongly recommends a Kennel Cough-specific vaccination for dogs that were not infected (dogs that will, as a result, not have developed natural immunity) and will reimburse trainers for related vaccination costs for vaccinating active racing greyhounds against kennel cough from 12th February to 27th March 2026 inclusive.

To claim reimbursement, participants must download and complete the reimbursement form here, and email the completed form along with proof of veterinary treatment to welfare@tasracing.com.au.

Trainers are reminded of the mandatory stand-down period from all events of 5-days post vaccination

Tasracing acknowledges the financial impact on greyhound trainers of a temporary racing shutdown. The associated reduction in Race Field Fee income, which funds prizemoney, needs also to be considered. Tasracing will not be in a position to provide a special distribution of prizemoney

Penalty-Free Scratchings will be maintained for a period of time to be determined.
