2026 National Apprentice Race Series

History Made | Tasmania Wins National Title

Tasmania has created history, claiming the National Apprentice Race Series title for the first time.

The National Apprentice Race Series (NARS) brings together the country’s leading apprentice jockeys, with riders representing their state across multiple race meetings around Australia in a battle for national honours.

Across the series, Tasmania’s young riders consistently performed against some of the nation’s best emerging talent, delivering a number of strong rides and valuable points to keep the state in contention throughout the competition.

Representing Tasmania were:

  • Jackson Radley
  • Kirra-Lee Lane
  • Lauryn Bingley
  • Jabez Johnstone

The Tassie team travelled across the country proudly representing the state and ultimately brought the title home in what is a significant achievement for the local racing industry and apprentice program.

The result is also a reflection of the strength of Tasmania’s racing pathways and the work being done to support and develop young riders within the industry.

Apprentice Jockey Coach Stephen Maskiell praised the efforts of the group throughout the series, with the team showing consistency, professionalism and composure under pressure across all six legs of the competition.

For Tasmania, the win marks a proud moment and another positive sign for the future of the state’s racing industry.

Congratulations to Jackson Radley, Kirra-Lee Lane, Lauryn Bingley, Jabez Johnstone and Apprentice Jockey Coach Stephen Maskiell on an outstanding achievement.
