Subsequent to Tasracing’s announcement yesterday regarding the Spreyton race meeting, a further update is provided as follows:

Tasracing COO, Operations Team and Chief Steward attended the site early this afternoon to remediate the surface and assess its suitability for resumption of training and racing activity

Trackwork will resume tomorrow (Friday) as normal

Post Friday trackwork, the surface will again be assessed and a recommendation made regarding suitability for 1) continuation of trackwork, 2) scheduling of trials

Tasracing will continue to consult with the ATA, local trainers, riders and the TJA

Horse and rider safety are paramount. Tasracing has requested the TJA to provide its view on safety of the surface by close of business Friday, after consulting its members

Races from the Golden Mile raceday on Wednesday will be managed as follows –

With the exception of The Golden Mile, the meeting is declared Abandoned

Prizemoney and related payments will be paid in accordance with policy, breakdown/details to be provided Friday

The Golden Mile’s rescheduling will be confirmed and communicated no later than 6pm tomorrow, Friday.

Given the above, a resumption of racing at the next scheduled Spreyton meeting, Wednesday 26 August, cannot yet be confirmed
- As to causation, the asphalt base beneath the Tapeta profile, in addition to deteriorating due to age, was damaged some years ago resulting jointly in structural distress
