Harness will have a reduction from 92 race meetings in 2025-26 to 87 for the 2026-27 season.
The five less meetings will comprise two from Hobart, two from Burnie and one from Launceston. All five meetings are from a Sky 2 timeslot with the current Sky 1 timeslots that Tasracing receive unaffected by this change.
There will be 22 Sunday afternoon meetings run in the 2026/27 season which is a significant increase on the 10 that were run in the 2025/26 season. These will replace meetings that would have ordinarily been run as Sunday twilight meetings, meaning participants can return home at a more reasonable hour.
Below are notable dates for the 2026-27 calendar:
- The Tasmanian Trotting Club was once again allocated a Saturday Sky 1 timeslot for the state’s premier race, the Tasmania Cup. The Group 1 event will have a date change and take place on 19 December. This meeting will also see the inaugural running of the $40,000 Golden Alley for three- and four-year-olds that will replace the Beautide 3YO Prelude.
- A Saturday SKY 1 timeslot has been allocated to the Launceston Pacing Club on 1 August for the running of The Beautide. This will be the first time the race will be run at Launceston.
- The Tasmanian Trotting Club will host the running of the Tasmanian Derby and Tasmanian Oaks on Sunday, 16 August. This meeting will also feature the running of the two-year-old Sweepstakes Finals.
- The Tassie Golden Apple Final held at the Launceston Pacing Club will be run on Sunday, 29 November. This meeting will also feature the Bandbox and Globe Derby Finals for three-year-olds.
- The Hobart Pacing Cup will be held as a day meeting in Hobart on Sunday, 6 December. This is a change from its January date in recent years.
- A Saturday SKY 1 timeslot was given to the Tasmanian Trotting Club on 31 October for the running of the Dandy Patch and Evicus Finals for the two-year-olds.
- A Saturday SKY 1 timeslot has been allocated to the Launceston Pacing Club to host the Devonport Cup Meeting in Launceston on 30 January.
- The Carrick Park Pacing Club will again hold their Cup meeting on Sunday, 7 March, which coincides with the March long weekend.
- The Tasmanian Trotting Club and Hobart Greyhound Racing Club will again hold a dual code meeting on Good Friday, 26 March.
- A Saturday SKY 1 timeslot was again allocated to the Launceston Pacing Club on 27 March for the Group 2 Easter Cup Final.
- The Launceston Pacing Club meeting on Sunday, July 18 will see the running of the Raider Stakes and Granny Smith Finals for four-year-olds.
Devonport Harness Racing Club meetings have been reallocated to the following:
- BHRC – 2 meetings
- LPC – 10 meetings
